Beginner's Guide To Satellarknights
Satellarknights are a fairly straightforward archetype that focuses on summoning Rank 4 Exceed monsters turn after turn while applying pressure to the opponent with its high trap count. These LIGHT Warrior monsters are all searchable by Reinforcement Of The Army and can be used with Honest. With monster effects that add Satellarknights from the Deck to the hand, send Satellarknights from the Deck to the Graveyard, and Special Summon Satellarknights from the Graveyard or hand onto the field, it's very likely that you'll be consistently reaching into your Extra Deck several times per turn. Let's take a look at the commonly played Shaddoll Effect monsters below.
The Satellarknight Monsters:
Satellarknight Deneb
Level 4 LIGHT Warrior
Effect Monster
ATK: 1500
DEF: 1000
(1) If this card is Summoned: You can add1 "tellarknight" monster from your Deck to your hand, except
"Satellarknight Deneb". You can only use this effect of "Satellarknight Deneb" once per turn.
This card searches any of your Satellarknight monsters, which will almost alway be Altair or Vega. He will
usually be your go to Reinforcements Of The Army search assuming you don't already have a Deneb in
your hand.
Satellarknight Unukalhai
Level 4 LIGHT Warrior
Effect Monster
ATK: 1800
DEF: 1000
(1) If this card is Summoned: You can send 1 "tellarknight" card from your Deck to the Graveyard, except
"Satellarknight Unukalhai". You can only use this effect of "Satellarknight Unukalhai" once per turn.
A searchable Foolish Burial on legs. It is almost always used to send Deneb or Vega. The monster sent to
the Graveyard will likely be Special Summoned during the End Phase of your opponent's turn with Call Of
The Haunted or Oasis Of The Dragon Souls or Special Summoned during your next turn with Altair.
Satellarknight Altair
Level 4 LIGHT Warrior
Effect Monster
ATK: 1700
DEF: 1300
(1) If this card is Summoned: You can target 1 "tellarknight" monster from your Graveyard, except
Satellarknight Unukalhai"; Special Summon that monster in Defense Position, but monsters you control
cannot attack for the rest of this turn, except "tellarknight" monsters. You can only use this effect of
"Satellarknight Altair" once per turn.
Satellarknight Altair is used to bring back Deneb to make a rank 4 and search for another Altair in order
to do the same play again the following turn. Note that although Altair is once per turn, you can use Call
Of The Haunted or Oasis Of The Dragon Souls to Special Summon Altair and get its effect during your
opponent's End Phase.
Satellarknight Vega
Level 4 LIGHT Warrior
Effect Monster
ATK: 1800
DEF: 1000
(1) If this card is Summoned: You can Special Summon 1 "tellarknight" monster from your hand, except
Satellarknight Vega". You can only use this effect of "Satellarknight Vega" once per turn.
Vega facilitates easy 3 material Rank 4 summons with the help of Altair - the most common Rank 4
summons being Delteros or Triverr.
The Spells
While there are some themed Satellarknight Spell cards, none of them are particularly effective in
competitive play. Spell cards that should be used or considered include Raigeki, Dark Hole,
Reinforcement Of The Army, Soul Charge, Upstart Goblin, and Mystical Space Typhoon.
The Traps
Stellarnova Alpha
When a Spell/ Trap Card, or monster effect is activated: Send 1 face-up "tellarknight" monster you
control to the Graveyard; negate the activation, and if you do, destroy that card, then draw 1 card.
Stellarnova Alpha essentially acts as an Infernity Barrier for Stellarknights in that it can negate any
effect as long as you have a face-up tellarknight monster. While there are other themed
Satellarknight Trap cards, this is the only one that sees competitive play. Other traps to consider
include continuous trap cards (their usefulness is explained below with Triverr) such as Fiendish
Chain, Call Of The Haunted, and Oasis Of The Dragon Souls.
The Exceeds
Stellarknight Delteros
Rank 4 LIGHT Warrior
Exceed Monster
3 Level 4 monsters
ATK: 2500
DEF: 2100
(1) While this card has Exceed Material, your opponent cannot activate cards or effects when you
Normal or Special Summon a monster(s).
(2) Once per turn: You can detach 1 Exceed Material from this card, then target 1 card on the field;
destroy it.
(3) If this card is sent from the field to the Graveyard: You can Special summon 1 "tellarknight"
monster from your hand or Deck.
While having a great effect, Delteros is often outshined by Triverr. However, Delteros is useful in
getting rid of problem cards and does not have a specific requirement on the type of monsters
needed to make it. Also its effect of Special Summoning from the hand or Deck is activated even
when sent to the Graveyard for Stellarnova Alpha.
Stellarknight Triverr
Rank 4 LIGHT Warrior
Exceed Monster
3 Level 4 "tellarknight" monsters
ATK: 2100
DEF: 2500
(1) During the turn you Exceed Summon this card, you cannot Special Summon monsters, except
"tellarknight" monsters.
(2) If this card is Exceed Summoned: Return all other cards on the field to the hand.
(3) Once per turn: You can detach 1 Exceed Material from this card; send 1 random card from
your opponent's hand to the Graveyard.
(4) If this card with Exceed Material is sent from the field to the Graveyard: You can target 1
"tellarknight" monster in your Graveyard; Special Summon it.
Triverr is pretty insane with its ability to bounce back every card on the field to the hand.
This effect can be abused by bouncing back your face-up Call Of The Haunteds, Oasis Of
The Dragon Souls, Fiendish Chains, and other face-up cards whose effects you have already
activated.
Other Useful Cards
Juragedo: Facilitates Rank 4 plays while also allowing you to beat over monsters such as Shaddoll Winda
Honest: Works with all of your Satellarknight cards allowing you to attack over any threat and push for damage.
Effect Veiler: Besides the obvious, Veiler can be used to Synchro Summon into a Level 9 monster, such as Trishula.
Extra Deck:
Besides the Stellarknight Exceeds, Constellar Diamond, Pleiades, Tellarknight Ptolemaeus, and Constellar Omega, the Extra Deck is a standard Rank 4 Extra Deck.
Tips and Plays
Satellarknights are very linear and not very difficult to play. Most plays involve summoning a Rank 4 and setting Traps.
During your opening play, if you have both a Deneb and Unukalhai in hand as well as a Call Of The Haunted/ Oasis Of The Dragon Souls, summon the Unukalhai instead of the Deneb, sending a Deneb from your Deck to your Graveyard. Then during your opponent’s End Phase, activate the Call Of The Haunted/ Oasis Of The Dragon Souls to Special Summon the Deneb from your Graveyard, searching an Altair to your hand. Then during your turn, Exceed for a Rank 4, detach the Deneb, and then Summon the added Altair from your hand to Special Summon that Deneb from your Graveyard, searching another Altair.
There are several reasons to summon the Unukalhai instead of the Deneb turn one. Often times, the opponent will not attack or destroy your Deneb, because they know if they do, you will just summon it back and search again with your added Altair. By not attacking, they are making your newly added Altair into a dead card. Also by not summoning the Deneb first, you are playing around your opponent's possible Veiler. If they decide to Veiler your Unukalhai, you can summon the Deneb during your next turn and search. If they don't decide to Veiler your Unukalhai, you can Special Summon Deneb during your opponent's End Phase and search for Altair (Effect Veiler only works on the player's opponent's turn, not their own). Also, it is likely that your opponent will set Mystical Space Typhoon before ending their turn. By activating Call Of The Haunted/ Oasis during their End Phase, there is no response your opponent can make to your Trap or Deneb.
