Beginner's Guide To Atlanteans
Atlanteans, as the name suggests, are mostly comprised of WATER Atlantean Sea Serpent Type monsters that have the ability to search Sea Serpents to your hand and destroy both face-up and face-down cards on the field. In addition to the Atlanteans, Mermail Abyssmegalo is considered a staple in this deck as he facilitates every one turn kill in this deck and can be searched to your hand with ease. While there are several different combos in this deck, the majority of them end with the Atlantean player summoning multiple copies of Mermail Abyssmegalo and attacking for game. This guide will walk you through the deck's most played cards and shed light on their combos below.
Each Atlantean monster gets an effect when sent to the Graveyard for a WATER monster's effect. As such, the deck abuses Mermail Abyssmegalo and Neptabyss The Atlantean Princess to trigger the Atlantean effects to gain mass advantage.
Let's take a look at how the deck functions.
The Monsters:
Atlantean Dragoons
Level 4 WATER Sea Serpent
Effect Monster
ATK: 1800
DEF: 0
(1) All face-up Level 3 or lower Sea Serpent-Type monsters you control can attack your opponent directly.
(2) When this card is sent to the Graveyard to activate a WATER monster's effect: Add 1 Sea Serpent-Type
monster from your Deck to your hand, except "Atlantean Dragoons".
This card is the reason why the Atlantean deck works. While his first effect isn't used very often (although
it does have some use), his second effect is why he really shines. He allows you to add any Atlantean or
Mermail Abyssmegalo to your hand and is the reason why the the deck functions so well. Without him, there
would be no discussion of this deck.
Neptabyss The Atlantean Prince
Level 1 WATER Sea Serpent
Effect Monster
ATK: 800
DEF: 0
(1) You can send 1 "Atlantean" monster from your Deck to your Graveyard, except "Neptabyss The Atlantean
Prince"; add 1 "Atlantean" card from your Deck to your hand, except Neptabyss The Atlantean Prince".
(2) If this card is sent to the Graveyard to activate a WATER monster's effect: Target 1 "Atlantean" monster in
your Graaveyard, except "Neptabyss The Atlantean Prince:"; Special Summon it. you can only use each effect
of "Neptabyss The Atlantean Prince once per turn.
While this may not be a Mermail deck, Abyss Megalo plays a crucial role in the Atlantean deck as he is
the enabler of one turn kills. Without him, the deck wouldn't function as he not only sends Atlanteans to
the Graveyard to activate their effects, but can put 6400 damage onto the field by himself. By tributing
a face-up WATER monster from your field (usually Neptabyss or Dragoons), Megalo can attack twice
this turn. His ability to add an Abyss Spell or Trap to hand is very useful and is often used to search
Abyss-scale of the Mizuchi, which will negate one of your opponent's Spell cards as well as give
Abyssmegalo 800 extra ATK. By using his effect to attack twice and Mizuchi (2400 + 800 + 2400 + 800),
Abyssmegalo can easily put your opponent at critical Life Points.
Other Monsters:
Atlantean Heavy Infantry
Level 2 WATER Sea Serpent
Effect Monster
ATK: 0
DEF: 1600
(1) During your Main Phase, you can Normal Summon a Level 4 or lower Sea Serpent-Type monster in
addition to your Normal Summon/ Set. (you can only gain this effect once per turn).
(2) If this card is sent to the Graveyard to activate a WATER monster's effect: Target 1 face-up card your
opponent controls; destroy that target.
Deep Sea Diva is almost exclusively used to get Neptabyss onto your field, although there are applications of
bringing out Heavy Infantry instead depending on your hand. As Diva is a Tuner, players have the option of
bringing out Heavy Infantry to Synchro Summon Herald Of The Arc Light, or the option to bring out Marksman
to Synchro Summon a Level 5 Synchro. Note that if you bring out Marksman and are able to use Marksman's
effect to Special Summon Dragoons, you can Synchro Summon Trishula during your Main Phase 2.
Atlantean Marksman clears away problem cards and when used in combination with Infantry, leaves your
opponent's field open for lethal damage. His first effect is also relevant in being able to Special Summon
Neptabyss or Dragoons from your Deck to your field.
Deep Sea Diva
Level 2 WATER Sea Serpent
Tuner
Effect Monster
ATK: 200
DEF: 400
(1) When this card is Normal Summoned: You can Special Summon 1 Level 3 or lower Sea Serpent-Type
monster from your Deck.
Neptabyss is the card that put the Atlantean archetype over the edge. Her first effect allows you to send
Atlantean Dragoons to your Graveyard to effectively add two Sea Serpents to your hand. As Dragoons
can be activated multiple times per turn, a common play involves using Neptabyss to search Mermail
Abyssmegalo and Dragoons to the hand and then sending Dragoons and another Atlantean to the
Graveyard to add another Atlantean to hand with Dragoons effect, and an Abyss Spell or Trap card to
your hand with Abyssmegalo's effect.
Her second effect is very relevant as well, as she can be sent to the Graveyard with Megalo's effect
(either his Special Summoning effect or his Tributing effect) to Special Summon an Atlantean from the
Graveyard (usually Dragoons)
Mermail Abyssmegalo
Level 7 WATER Sea Serpent
Effect Monster
ATK: 2400
DEF: 1900
(1) You can discard 2 other WATER monsters to the Graveyard; Special Summon this card from your
hand. When you do: You can add 1 "Abyss-" Spell/ trap Card from your Deck to your hand.
(2) You can Tribute 1 other face-up Attack Position WATER monster; this card can make a second attack
during each Battle Phase this turn.
Atlantean Heavy Infantry allows you to clear your opponent's field of monsters to attack directly for game.
His effect is also useful in clearing away problem cards like Skill Drain or Lose 1 Turn and can get rid of
Pendulum Scales. His first effect is also useful for certain combos and can make monster clogged hands
work towards your favor.
Atlantean Marksman
Level 3 WATER Sea Serpent
Effect Monster
ATK: 1400
DEF: 0
(1) When this card inflicts Battle Damage to your opponent: You can Special Summon 1 Level 4 or lower
Sea Serpent-Type "Atlantean" monster, except "Atlantean Marksman", from your Deck.
(2) If this card is sent to the Graveyard to activate a WATER monster's effect: Target 1 Set card your opponent
controls; destroy that target.
Moulinglacia The Elemental Lord
Level 8 WATER Sea Serpent
Effect Monster
ATK: 2800
DEF: 2200
(1) Cannot be Normal Summoned/ Set. Must be Special Summoned (from your hand) by having exactly 5
WATER monstesr in your Graveyard, and cannot be Special Summoned by other ways.
(2) When this card is Special Summoned: Discard 2 random cards from your opponent's hand (or their entire
hand, if less than 2). You can only use the effect of "Moulinglacia The Elemental Lord" once per turn.
(3) If this card leaves the field, skip the Battle Phase of your next turn.
Moulinglacia is a scary card for your opponent that is easily searchable thanks to Dragoons and easily
summonable because of all the WATER monsters sent to your Graveyard. When used in combination of
Marksman and Heavy Infanty, Moulinglacia often leaves your opponent with very little to follow up with.
There is an easy combo to summon Moulinglacia, as described and shown in the Tips and Plays section.
One For One
Send 1 monster from our hand to the Graveyard; Special Summon 1 Level 1 monster from your hand or Deck.
One For One acts as another Neptabyss in that its only purpose is to bring out Neptabyss (or perhaps an Effect Veiler).
Other Cards To Consider:
Abyss-scale Of The Mizuchi
Equip only to a "Mermail" monster. It gains 800 ATK. When a Spell effect that was activated on your opponent's
side of the field resolves, negate that effect, then send this card to the Graveyard.
You will need to run at least one Spell or Trap Abyss card to get full value out of Abyssmegalo -- it might as well
be one as good as Mizuchi. Not only is the ability to negate one Spell card great, but the ATK bonus is very
important as well as it boosts your Abyssmegalo into a 3200 ATK double attacking monster.
Salvage
Target 2 WATER monsters with 1500 or less ATK in your Graveyard; add those targets to your hand.
An amazing card that is almost always live. It can add back all of your monsters except for Moulinglacia,
Abyssmegalo, and Dragoons.
Instant Fusion
Pay 1000 Life Points; Special Summon 1 Level 5 or lower Fuion Monster from your Extra Deck. (This Special
Summon is treated as a Fusion Summon). The Fusion Monster Special summoned by this effect cannot attack,
and is destroyed during the End Phase. Only 1 "instant Fusion" can be activated per turn.
Special Summon Elder Entitiy Norden to Special Summon Atlantean Dragoons from your Graveyard. Proceed to
Exceed into a Rank 4 monster. Note that if you Exceed into Silent Honor ARK or Abyss Dweller and activate their
effect, Dragoons's effect will activate and allow you to add a Sea Serpent to your hand.
As this is the OCG, cards like Harpie's Feather Duster, Pot Of Avarice, and Monster Reborn can and should all be used.
Abyss-scale Of Cetus
Equip only to a "Mermail" monster. It gains 800 ATK. When a Trap effect that was activated on your opponents
side of the field resolves, negate that effect, then send this card to the Graveyard.
The same as Mizuchi, but for your opponent's Traps.

Extra Deck:
While primarily focusing on the OTK with Megalo, Atlanteans are able to use a wide variety of Extra Deck monsters. Most notably, Atlanteans are able to Synchro into Level 4, 5, 7, 9, and 10 as well as Exceed into Rank 2, 4, 7, and 8.
Tips and Plays
Neptabyss + Any WATER monster = OTK
Summon Neptabyss and send Dragoons to the Graveyard. Add both Marksman and Abyssmegalo to your hand. Send Marksman and any WATER monster from your hand to the Graveyard to Special Summon Abyssmegalo. Pop a face-down opponen'ts card and search with Megalo for Mizuchi or Cetus. Tribute Neptabyss with Abyssmegalo's effect in order to attack twice. Use Neptabyss's efect once tributed to Special Summon Marksman from your Graveyard. Attack with Abyss Megalo for 6400, attack with Marksman for 1400 and use his effect to Special Summon Dragoons from your Deck, and attack with Dragoons for 1800 for a combined total of 9800 damage.
1 Card Moulinglacia Combo
Normal Summon Diva and Special Summon Neptabyss with her effect. Use Neptabyss's effect to send Dragoons to the Graveyard, and search Moulinglacia and an Atlantean to your hand. Synchro Summon Child Dragon, then Synchro for any Synchro with the Atlantean you searched. Special Summon the Moulinglacia (your Graveyard consists of Diva, Neptabyss, Dragoons, Child Dragon, and the Atlantean monster.
